Two centuries ago people believed that whatever biology an infant was born with determined whether the child would grow up to be male or female.  The belief seemed intuitively obvious:  Aren't Biologic Sex (hormones, genitals, etc) and Gender (behavior & personality traits) two sides of the same coin?

EXCEPT...

Sometimes Biologic Sex and Gender DON'T match.  Transsexuals, for example.

Hmm.  SOMETHING must be seriously messed up.  We know that biology doesn't lie:  you can see it;  you can touch it. 

The conclusion is unavoidable:  Transsexuals must be insane.


Pause for a moment of reflection: 

Actually, Biologic-Sex changes constantly:  Injury.  Disease.  Surgery.  Puberty.  Menopause.  Aging.  Biologic-Sex changes so much, we spontaneously ignore the process.

When Biologic-Sex changes, does Gender (behavior & personality traits) also change?  Is a woman still a woman after hysterectomy?


What people believed two centuries ago was wrong. 

    Gender & Biologic-Sex are separate & independent of each other. 

        -- A man remains a man no matter how accidents and aging might change his body.

        -- GENDER is constant throughout life.  It's present at birth; it CAN'T be changed.

        -- Biologic-Sex changes constantly, but fortunately it doesn't matter. 

But aren't Transsexuals trying to change their Gender?

No, Transsexuals correct their BIOLOGY, to make it consistent with their innate & unchangeable Gender.

Transsexuality is NOT about beliefs or changing the unchangeable, developmental deviance, or mental illness.

Transsexuality is a treatable problem resulting from fetal biologic development.  It has no social, personal or behavioral impact.

            Unless YOU make it so.
