The New Gender Paradigm

MORE:  Mormon Doctrine

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints began as a restoration of Christ's early church.  As such, it had a relatively open attitude about transgender members.  Unfortunately, during in the 1950's the Church joined the rest of radical Christianity in a conformity campaign.  More details can be found HERE.

From the very beginning, transsexuals played important roles in the evolution of the Universal Church.  That all changed when the radical Psychiatrist Paul McHugh misled the Holy Father with modern theories on gender.   Find out more HERE.

MORE:  Religious Exclusion

Transsexuality was an issue during Biblical times just as it is now.  Except  religious leaders of the time worried about how best to include them and meet their religious needs, instead of today's justifications for religious exclusion.  Most of today's justifications depend on mistranslation.  Find out about the actual words used in the Bible HERE.

Spiritual Transitioning

Physical transitioning is a process that doesn't happen in a single day, but evolves through a series of stages.  Spiritual transitioning is just the same:

Stage I:  In Stage I, transsexuals are told that they're not who they are.  Through harassment and punishment they're forced to pretend to be who they're not.  Religious leaders preach about sin, which only leads to guilt, doubt and self-hatred.  Stage I's spiritual distress is real, but following other people's advice only makes it worse.

Stage II:  At some point, a trans person realizes the hopelessness of pretense.  They surrender, miserable & defeated, sure that the fault is their own.  Surely those religious "experts"  can't all be wrong.  Faith & hope are also gone.  God seems to have abandoned them.

Physical transitioning often takes place at this point, but they're still spiritually dead.

Stage III:  Transitioning eliminates the secrecy.  Energy that was wasted in maintaining a pretense, can now be re-directed toward self-discovery.  Long-suppressed gifts, talents and insights are a delightful suprise.  Time, study & experience open the door into a new, larger world with new opportunities.

On the other hand, the ugly truth about today's gender orthodoxy is gradually revealed.  God hasn't abandoned the trans people, the Pope has (under the influence of radical psychiatry.)   The religious "experts" should have known better.  Exposure of religious fraud can lead to spiritual healing outside monolithic orthodoxy.  It's the foundation for future spiritual growth.

For many trans people, this is enough.  They join an accepting congregation -- for self-improvement, to find God, and for community service.

Stave IV:  For many others, being forced out of the religious establishment is liberating.  Without preconceptions, they blaze their own trail toward heaven.  "Mysticism" has been the traditional name for this creative leap into the unknown.  (However, it's necessary to reject the negative connotations of magic, superstition, worshiping rocks & clay images, primitive shamans shaking rattles, and so on.)

The various forms of mysticism (including Kabbalah) celebrate a wholeness that encompasses the attributes of both female and male.  Since the beginning of time, transgender people have had an inside track in achieving that kind of wholeness.

As a child, I'd sit in the congregation and cringe as the sermon went on and on about how much God loved me, and how ready the Church was to help me through anything.  All I could think about was last week's sermon that I was an abomination; I deserved to die.

What if they discover my secret?

My Secret was the center of my existence.  I spent my entire energy struggling against it.  I'd promise to be pure -- to be the boy I was supposed to be.  I promised to obey every one of God's laws.

But I couldn't pull it off.  The other boys wanted nothing to do with me.  They knew I was "different".  Meanwhile the distress became ever more severe.  Prayer & study didn't help.  I felt guilty and unworthy.  Any good I might do paled in comparison to my "crimes".  I hated myself because of my weakness and continual failure.

I gave up and resigned myself to hell.

What did I have to lose?  I transitioned.  I was expelled.  I lost everything.  I was alone.

But I no longer had a secret.  I ignored other people's rejection & harassment.  I was free to pursue my own path, without worrying about religious disapproval.

Ironically, all that religious study bore unexpected fruit:  I discovered that religious condemnation of transsexuality was a recent phenomenon.  In fact, throughout the times of the prophets, transsexuals played a prominent role in the spiritual life of the community.  With growing confidence, I turned toward the Lord....

Transsexuality

and the

Spiritual Path

God created this world and the life that inhabits it for a purpose.  -- For us, His children.  To provide an opportunity for us to learn, to grow, and to improve.  In other words, we have all been placed on a path.  Where that path ends depends on the choices we make along the way.  Put simply, the two goals that the Lord wishes for us to pursue are:

You must love the Lord your God with your whole mind, your whole being, and all your strength.    (Deuteronomy 6:5)

Love your neighbor as yourself.    (Leviticus 19:18)

In other words, the purpose of life is to establish three quality relationships:   find God, find yourself, and find community.

Most of today's "spiritual leaders" threaten to block you from achieving these goals, unless you pretend to be who you're not (ie, wrong-gender expression.)  The truth is, transitioning is a necessary step toward achieving the goals.   Wrong-gender expression is a fraud.  A fraud can't discover the true self; a fraud can't petition God;  a fraud destroys community.

Eve was the first Trans Woman:  She started out with male biology, then God commanded her to transition.

God himself did the first genital reconstruction surgery
